I practically live on the internet. My job is virtually-based and the people I work with all live thousands of miles away, all of whom I met… on the internet. So I think it goes without saying that I have a pretty good grasp of the power behind that. One of the biggest strengths of the internet comes in the form of having such a widely accessible outlet for the voices of the world. Sadly, that includes the voices of droves of ignorant assholes.

Aside from the terrible spelling and grammar, the link above features facebook status updates that are littered with awful, ignorant, bigoted points of view.
Let’s make a few things clear:
1) The disaster that has recently taken place in Japan is an absolute tragedy. Thinking anything positive about this is horribly insensitive. You’re an asshole if you think the Japanese deserved this horrible disaster, regardless of your personal prejudices.
2) Prior to the earthquake and tsunami, we were on perfectly good terms with Japan! I could understand — not agree with, but understand — why someone would wish ill will upon the peoples of a nation we were at war with, but we’re friendly with Japan! Do these people not know that or something? Being GLAD some completely innocent people died and had their homeland obliterated is just amazing.
3) Karma for Pearl Harbor? Somebody needs to re-take 6th grade history. The attack on Pearl Harbor happened as part of WWII, the absolute worst conflict anyone has ever encountered. Remember what we did after Pearl Harbor got attacked? We dropped ATOMIC BOMBS on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Was that not enough karma for you, you intolerant dicks? Terrible things happened on both sides, but the US and Japan have since reconciled the events and have been on good terms since then.
Since you seem so concerned about karma, these awful things you’ve been posting for the last week have probably earned you a severe amount of negative karma. You’ve got a lot to make up for! Perhaps you can earn some points by donating to the Red Cross? I did and it was really easy! In fact, here’s some help!
